About Tour Guide Society

Our Story

Tour Guide Society (TGS) was born on 14th April 2017 in Arusha, Tanzania. A group of passionate tourism professionals  tour guides, porters, chefs and industry stakeholders  came together with one powerful conviction: that unity is strength.

Faced with daily challenges in the tourism industry, from lack of welfare protection to limited professional development opportunities, these founding members decided to stop waiting for change and create it themselves. They established TGS as a community-driven welfare and professional organization that puts people first.

Today TGS stands as a recognized body representing over 100 tourism professionals in Arusha and across Tanzania, providing welfare support, professional training and a collective voice for every member.

Our Core Values

Unity

We believe every tourism professional is stronger as part of a united community than standing alone.

Integrity

We operate with full transparency, honesty and accountability in everything we do as a society.

Compassion

We genuinely care for every member and respond with empathy and urgency when hardship strikes.

Professionalism

We hold ourselves and our members to the highest standards of conduct in Tanzania's tourism industry.

Why TGS Is Different

We are not a tour company. We are a people-first professional welfare society.

Member Welfare First

Unlike tour companies focused on profit, TGS exists purely to serve and protect its members during their most difficult moments.

Community Contributions

Every member contributes to a collective welfare fund ensuring no one ever faces illness, loss or hardship without financial support.

Government Recognized

TGS operates under Tanzanian law as a formally registered professional society giving members legitimate representation and protection.

Our Leadership

TGS is governed by elected leaders who serve voluntarily for the benefit of all members.
